A/C 'goop' - 79 Coupe deVille
« on: March 04, 2017, 04:39:57 PM »
Hi Guys:
Does anyone know what the 'goop' is called that surrounds the A/C components under the bonnet? See my poor picture.
I have need to replace the A/C compressor cycling switch (copper tube in the picture), and will need to cut away the existing goop, and replace it. Any ideas?

Not sure of the actual name, but any AC shop will have it.

It comes in a roll, and simply wraps around the joints especially, and is really sticky stuff.

Thanks Bruce - my local mechanic, who re-gassed the system, didn't know that.
Will go and see an 'expert'.
