1960 Body Mounts
« on: June 04, 2017, 09:40:47 PM »
I am still plodding away with my chassis-off resto of my coupe ... the chassis is done and have ordered all 20 rubber body mounts. My question is... the main square part of mount sits on chassis, with the extended rubber section sitting nicely into the hole on chassis...but there is a metal ferrule that sits within it, and I want to know what its purpose is ? When I removed the old mounts, they had no metal ferrules... pic enclosed of old mounts showing the new mount also. (I went with square even though it had rounds... seem the same otherwise)

1960 Coupe de Ville... but full resto will turn it into a Kustom !

Any Metal Ferrule will be there to stop the bolt being over-tightened, which will stop the Insulator from doing its' intended task.

I can't remember what mine had, but I know that when I re-insulated a '69 SDV, the ferrules were there.   There would be no reason why the '60 wasn't the same.
