Help needed re transmission seal
« on: September 24, 2011, 07:33:07 PM »
Im looking at getting my transmission serviced.  I ve purchased a pan gasket and transmission filter.
I need to buy a transmission selector shaft seal (or as the americans might say, manual shaft selector). From a transmission specialist it's the seal where the linkages enter the transmission box. (hope that makes sense)
I've tried google (including google  images) I'm having difficulty in finding one.
Has anyone serviced their transmission and changed this seal, if so can you please tell me whee u got it from?

Would really appreciate any help
Cheers gerry

The other way is to take your old seal, and go to a Bearing Supplier like BSC, and they will measure it and find you the correct one.

If your seal is that bad, measure the outer and inner diameter, and they will be able to get one that will fit, with the correct retaining and sealing diameters.

Give American car parts a try  03 9592-6111

My 59 transmission has a reusable guaze filter that you can clean. I paid $25 for a pan gasket there. They have a pretty good stock for older caddys there on the shelf.

Good luck
