Eldorado rear window replacement
« on: November 05, 2012, 11:11:53 AM »
I'm looking for step by step instructions on rear window panel replacement in 74 Eldo convertible.
Does anyone know of supplier in Qld or Aust? Or a reputable supplier in the US?
Are there traps for the unwary?
Thanks,
Jeff

G'day Jeff,

You need the Fisher Body Service Manual.

The replacement is perfectly described in it, and it involves a fair amount of work.   The Back Curtain, is what the book calls it, and I would recommend replacing the gutter at the same time.

One important part is making sure that the whole roof is correctly aligned before starting.

As these glass windows are bonded to the material, I believe they aren't made here, and don't forget that there is the one with the heater element in the glass for rear window de-misting.

Try Ron McLean down at All American Auto Imports down in Ballarrat.   He might have the part, but most likely you will have to source out of USA, liker Robbins, or Hydro-electric.

Plus, don't forget that what colour you buy, might be slightly different to the one on your car, as that could have been already replaced.
