62 automatic service/rebuild
« on: October 20, 2009, 12:32:25 PM »
Hey everyone, the caddy has been keeping me busy. I now have the front end off, and have decided to pull the motor to do some work on the chassis/steering/suspension etc. Will just be giving the motor a tidy up, replace water pump and some paint. While the motor is out, I'd like to pull the auto and have it serviced/checked over. Does anyone know anywhere in Perth they could reccommend to have the auto looked over?

Cheers,

Chris

The only real way to service and check out the Transmission, is whilst it is still in the car, and the car needs to be driveable.

Once it is out, the necessary tests cannot be properly performed, and if it has to be pulled down to check it out, you may as well have it reconditioned with new parts before putting it back together.

The trans does seem to slip and not downshift properly, fluid level is fine. I'm looking at having it pulled down and reco'd as condition is unknown to me. Would prefer to do it right first time. Any places in Perth I could get some quotes?

Thanks again, chris
